COVID-19 situation in Jordan is 'comfortable': Hijjawi

Member of the National Committee for Epidemics Control Bassam Hijjawi Friday spoke to Roya about Coronavirus mutations and the state of the coronavirus in the Kingdom.

He began saying that no one is immune from the spread of Coronavirus mutations.

He said these mutations did not affect the general structure of the virus, and that these mutations lead to a rapid spread and not new symptoms.

And he indicated that the South African strain, present in Jordan, is more widespread and dangerous than the British, noting that there is no evidence in Jordan that the mutations have led to new symptoms.

Hijjawi stressed that the epidemiological situation in Jordan is "comfortable," but stressed that the Kingdom could return to closure measures if the epidemiological situation requires it.

However, closures are not being mentioned right now.
