Palestine confirms eight deaths and 661 new coronavirus infections

Palestine recorded eight deaths and 661 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, announced the Palestinian Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila Thursday.

The new deaths involved seven in the West Bank (one in Jericho and Al-Aghwar; one in Bethlehem; one in Jenin; one in Salfit; one in the suburbs of Jerusalem, and two in Nablus), and one in the Gaza Strip.

The recovery rate in Palestine stands at 94 percent, while the active case rate is 4.9 percent and the death rate is 1.1 percent.

The new coronavirus cases included 49 in Salfit; 61 in the suburbs of Jerusalem; 18 in Tubas; 12 in Qalqilya; 42 in Bethlehem; 53 in Nablus; 13 in Jericho and Al-Aghwar; 127 in Ramallah and Al-Bireh; 18 in Tulkarm; 44 in Hebron; 24 in Jenin, and 200 in the Gaza Strip.

The recovery cases included 10 in Salfit; 16 in Tubas; five in Qalqilya; 10 in Bethlehem; 24 in Nablus; nine in Jericho and Al-Aghwar; 28 in Tulkarm; 23 in Hebron; 19 in Jenin, and 275 in the Gaza Strip.

Currently, 55 people are in the Intensive Care Unit and 20 are on ventilators.

A total of 4,771 PCR tests were conducted.
