Wednesday, the Mafraq Agriculture Directorate planted 159 trees in a garden called the 'Jordanian State Centennial Park,' to coincide with the national holidays.

The Director of Mafraq Agriculture Imad Al-Ayasrah, told Roya that this year's celebrations were distinct from previous years, due to the celebrations for this year coinciding with the celebration of the Jordanian state’s centenary and the birthday of King Abdullah II.

Al-Ayasrah added that the Mafraq Governorate has 72,000 dunums (acres) of forests, of which 40,000 dunums are urban forests.

He explained that the trees that were planted have "significance and symbolism," as the number 100 refers to the centenary of the Jordanian state and the number 59 symbolizes the age of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
