Obeidat indicated that the existence of new technologies and the ease of conducting tests to detect the mutated strain is available in the Kingdom, adding that there are 70 countries that have announced the presence of this strain.

He said that the mutation should be closely monitored due to its rapid spread despite it not increasing the severity of symptoms, and that the government has taken several measures at airports and borders with the aim of reducing the spread of the virus.

He added that the pandemic indicators in the Kingdom are currently good, and recent days have been witnessing stability. He said that the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases was expected, noting that the situation requires caution.

In regards to vaccinations, Obeidat confirmed that the second dose of vaccinations for those who have taken the first dose will begin Thursday.
