Monday, Dubai tightened its health restrictions in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus. The new precautionary measures will come into effect on Feb. 2 and until Feb. 28.

The new restrictions include:

  • Closing pubs and bars.
  • Reducing audience capacity of seated indoor venues, including cinemas and entertainment and sports venues, to 50 percent.
  • Reducing capacity at hotels and shopping malls to 70 percent.
  • Restaurants and cafes will be required to close by 1am.
  • Carrying inspection campaigns to ensure strict compliance with precautionary measures and safety protocols which include social distancing and wearing face masks.

This came due to a huge increase in the number of those who violate the precautionary measures taken by the emirate.

UAE has confirmed 306,339 coronavirus cases and 859 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
