No expected interruptions for vaccinations in Jordan: Hayajneh

The Head of the Coronavirus Portfolio at the Ministry of Health Wael Al-Hayajneh said during his participation in Roya’s Nabd Al-Balad program, that every individual who has taken the initial dose of the vaccine, will receive the second dose too, noting that he does not expect a interruption in the Kingdom’s vaccination program.

The second doses of the vaccines will begin Thursday, he said.

Hayajneh stressed the impossibility of “leaking” doses of the vaccine to individuals other than those who registered. He assured that every vaccine can be traced. “We can know where it went,” he said.

He said that not a single dose of the vaccine went outside Ministry of Health warehouses, adding that the private sector was not given any doses as well.

Hayajneh pointed out that there is a plan to deal with those who received messages to take the vaccine and did not go to their appointments.

No further details about the aforementioned statement were announced.

Hayajneh added that over the past 10 weeks, Jordan has witnessed an improvement in the pandemic situation. But in the past three days, there has been an increase in positive PCR tests.

The Kingdom is in a category of “discomfort”, said Hayajneh.

He stressed that the Kingdom is still in the midst of a battle against COVID-19, as is the rest of the world.

Hayajneh pointed out that the Amman witnessed the most surge in infections, noting that the most cases of mutated COVID-19 were located in the capital.

Notably, he stressed the importance of face-education and returning to school, noting that the comeback will be a difficult breakthrough, which the Kingdom will hopefully pass through successfully.

He pointed out that the government does not settle its decisions over a day or two, but rather over the course of a week, as many matters will be resolved by the end of the week.

Earlier Sunday, the government held a press conference headed by the Minister of State for Media Affairs Ali Al-Ayed, and the Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat to discuss the developments of the pandemic in the Kingdom.

During the conference, it was announced that there has been an increased rate of infections (including mutated infections), while stressing that the continuation of reopening sectors must be accompanied by a greater level of commitment to preventive measures.
