Pfizer and BioNTech announced Thursday that their COVID-19 vaccine is effective against the two new strains, the ones discovered in Britain and South Africa.
The statement said that laboratory tests did not indicate the need for a new vaccine to deal with the mutated variants, adding that Pfizer and BioNTech will continue to monitor the new strains and are ready to respond if one of these mutations is resistant to the vaccine.
