Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh Wednesday issued Defense Order 25, which imposes increased fines on those who do not comply with health and safety measures including wearing face masks and social distancing.

If employees do not abide by official work procedures and preventive measures set by the Ministry of Labor and approved by the Ministry of Health, they will be fined between JOD 20 and 50. The related private sector establishment will be fined between JOD 500 and 1,000, if it is a first-time violation. Establishments with repeated violations will be fined JOD 1,000 and the facility will be shut down for seven days.

Based on Defense Order No. 11 establishments who violate defense orders were previously fined between JOD 100 and 200, and shut down for a period of 14 days.
