A young man was arrested after beating his sister to death in the Marka area in Amman Tuesday.

A security source told Roya that there are investigations into the death of a woman in her twenties in al-Mazare3 neighborhood. Following the autopsy, it became clear that she had been hit, leading to severe internal bleeding which led to her death.

The source indicated that the security services arrested the brother, who admitted that he had beaten her with his bare hands in their family home following a dispute between them. He has since been charged by the Grand Criminal Court.

Roya learned that the family of the victim requested the Civil Defense to transfer the deceased victim to the hospital after suffering from severe vomiting, but she soon died.

Another source told Roya that the woman’s family buried her after they received her body and her brother participated in the funeral before the security services discovered his involvement in the murder.

The source stated that the victim was married and suffered from a chronic disease, and family members and friends initially thought that she had died due to complications resulting from this disease.

Those close to the family said that the perpetrator has prior charges and is notorious for violence.


The Anti-Narcotics Department arrested two drug dealers in Amman and Karak Tuesday.

The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) arrested drug dealers in Amman and Karak Tuesday and seized different narcotic substances among other items.

In Karak, the AND arrested a drug dealer who is classified as dangerous and has 18 arrest warrants issued against him.

In the capital, another drug dealer was arrested after someone contacted the PSD to report that a person transports narcotic substances in a specific vehicle.

The AND seized six slabs of hashish and different pills.


A total of 32,000 people have received the COVID-19 vaccine in Jordan, announced the Ministry of Health.

The ministry said the number of people who registered for vaccination in Jordan is below the amount originally hoped for.

Around 330,000 people have registered through the online platform, but the government was expecting more than that, the ministry said, adding that nearly 32,000 people have received the COVID-19 vaccine across the Kingdom and 30 to 35 percent of those who were given a vaccination appointment did not get vaccinated.

Those who missed their appointments will be given other appointments later on, the ministry lastly added.


The Ministry of Health said Tuesday that the second shipment of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will arrive in the Kingdom in early February.

The Ministry said that the additional quantity of the vaccine will arrive in Jordan as part of the COVAX initiative this week.

On Jan. 12, the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines, containing 200,000 doses, arrived in the Kingdom.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the second vaccine to get approved for use in Jordan, after the Chinese SinophArm vaccine.


Two explosions were heard in both Yemen and Saudi Arabia in the past 24 hours.

The first explosion occurred Monday evening in the Yemeni city of Aden.

The explosion took place in a street market in the Enmaa region in Mansoura, the road linking the Buraiqa district with Mansoura, which is the same road that leads to the headquarters of the Arab coalition in Aden. The explosion did not result in any deaths or injuries so far.

The second explosion was heard earlier today in Saudi Arabia's capital of Riyadh.

All planes to Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport were diverted to other airports.

On Jan. 23, Saudi Arabia intercepted an apparent missile or drone attack over the capital.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack.


Cold weather conditions are expected Wednesday, and a significant drop in temperatures is expected Thursday, as an extremely cold air mass is expected to affect the Kingdom.
