Monday, the Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat announced that more than 12,000 people have received the coronavirus vaccine in Jordan.

Obeidat said that the number of applicants on the registration platform has exceeded a quarter of a million people.

Notably, personnel from the Health Ministry and Social Development Ministry began vaccinating the elderly in the White Bed Society care home in Amman Monday as a part of the national vaccination program.

Obeidat emphasized that this group of elderly people should be among the first citizens to receive the vaccine.

Informed sources told Roya that the vaccine administered to the elderly in this care home was the Chinese-Emirati Sinopharm vaccine.

Jan. 10, the first batch of the Sinopharm vaccine arrived in Jordan. This came after the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) authorized the emergency use of the Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 on Jan. 9.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is also being used for vaccinations in the Kingdom.
