88 pharmaceutical institutions referred to public prosecution, SSC

Monday, the Director General of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) Organization announced that monitoring campaigns resulted in the closure of 91 pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical establishments and the referral of 88 institutions to public prosecution and the State Security Court (SSC) due to their violations of the provisions of the Drug and Pharmacy Law No. (12) of (2013) during the past year in Jordan.

In a press release, Muhaidat indicated that the drug control and inspection teams carried out more than 1,348 inspection visits to pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical factories and institutions during the past year, including 68 visits to factories, 1,120 pharmaceutical establishments, and 160 non-pharmaceutical institutions.

He stressed that these monitoring campaigns aimed to achieve drug security to ensure that citizens have access to safe, effective and high-quality medicine.

Through the Department of Drug Control and Inspection, the JFDA monitors, organizes and follows up all procedures that guarantee the provisions of control over medicines, vaccines, drugs, psychotropic substances, vitamins and mineral preparations, infant and young child milk formulas, baby food, herbal medicines and their preparations.
