The Ministry of Health said Saturday that rumors and false information related to the coronavirus vaccine are affecting efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic and are delaying a return to normal life. 

The ministry said in a post on its Facebook account that the coronavirus vaccine at the present time does not substitute for wearing a mask or for physical distancing and other preventive measures.

It added that the vaccine was made to eliminate the pandemic and to save people by using a messenger of DNA that provides the body with instructions to generate an immune response that learns to defend itself if infected with the disease.

The ministry stressed that the vaccine is safe and was tested globally before it was approved in Jordan.
