Thursday, Turkey began a nationwide vaccination campaign against the coronavirus with the Chinese Sinovac vaccine, with health workers being the first group to receive it.

According to AFP News Agency, Professor Recep Demirhan, chief physician at the Lutfi Kirdar Hospital was the first doctor to receive the vaccine.

"Our citizens do not have to worry about vaccination. All vaccines available in Turkey are safe," he said after receiving the vaccine.

Wednesday, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca received the first shot of Sinovac live on television after approving the vaccine earlier that day.
