Saturday, the Palestinian Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaila announced that there is currently no date set to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Palestine.

Al-Kaila added that the vaccine is likely to arrive during the first quarter of 2021, noting that the ministry has contracted with four companies to obtain vaccines, which will cover a total of 70 percent of the Palestinian population, in addition to the World Health Organization (WHO) prividing the ministry with vaccines to cover another 20 percent.

She pointed out that there is a decrease in the rate of infections, while stressing the need to continue with all precautionary measures until the infection curve is flattened.

Al-Kaila confirmed that a recommendation will be submitted to the ministerial cabinet in the coming days regarding whether to extend closures or not, depending on the pandemic situation in the country.

Friday, Palestine recorded 23 COVID-19 deaths and 822 new cases.
