Friday, Simpsons producers denied claims that they predicted the storming of the US Capitol Jan. 6 after images surfaced on various social media sites of an image of one of the protesters wearing fur and horns next to a similar Simpsons style picture of the same man.

Social media users claimed that the individual in the cartoon image is a character from the Simpsons, indicating that producers somehow predicted these events.

A Twitter user, who identified as 'Mariana Z.' tweeted: "The Simpsons did it again."

However, producers told Reuters that these claims are false. "We did not create that image," wrote producers.

The doctored image appeared to be of the character 'Groundskeeper Willie'. However, the original image has since been found.

Since then, Reuters has fact checked the claim and confirmed that the show did not create the image of the protester.

Notably, the Simpsons once aired an episode on Nov. 1, 2020 which revolved around the 2020 presidential elections, wherein chaos broke out in the city after the main character Homer Simpson, forgets to vote.
