Thursday, Lebanon entered its first day of total lockdown which is imposed across the country until Feb. 1.

The lockdown came due to a huge increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths. The caretaker Minister of Health Hamad Hassan said Monday that the coronavirus situation in Lebanon is deteriorating and hospitals are running out of beds for COVID-19 patients, among other medical equipment.

Wednesday, Lebanon recorded a record 4,166 COVID-19 cases and 21 deaths.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Lebanon has confirmed 199,925 coronavirus cases, 1,550 deaths and 136,566 recoveries.

The total lockdown is Lebanon's fifth since March.
