MP Abdelsalam al-Thiabat said the Jordanian people are 'starving' and called on the government not to ignore citizens' demands to improve their living standards.
In response to Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh's speech Monday, Thiabat said Jordanian citizens are like iron and neglecting iron leads to rust. He also asked why the successive governments have been ignoring the demands of Jordanians to improve their living standards and eliminate poverty.
He said that the House of Representatives and the government are in an 'unenviable position,' adding that there is no enemy stronger than poverty, as it 'does not need a weapon.'
