Sunday evening, the Palestinian Authority released DJ Sama Abdulhadi, who stirred controversy after organizing a techno concert about a week ago at the site of the ancient and religious shrine of Nabi Musa near the city of Jericho in the West Bank.

"The Palestinian Authority released my daughter, Sama, on Sunday evening, on a financial guarantee estimated at about $3,500, until a court session is held, and the date has not been set," Saad Abdulhadi said Monday. The DJ was released a week after her arrest.

He added, "The court stipulated that she be prevented from traveling until the court session."

He said that his daughter and her band organized the party after obtaining permission to do so from the Ministry of Tourism, expressing his regret that her arrest "was to please the street, according to complex accusations."

The Palestinian Authority arrested Sama Abdulhadi, 30, the evening after the party was organized on Dec. 26.

During the organization of the party, Palestinian youths intervened to stop it and forced Sama and her staff to leave the site.

Accusations spread on social media that the revelers used "alcohol and poisons during the ceremony," and some considered the ceremony "sacrilegious" for the site where there is a mosque.

The Palestinian government formed an investigation committee and held the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities administrative responsibility because it granted the artist "permission not within her competence to hold electronic shows and concerts on a site affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments."

It pointed out that the ministry "did not appreciate the sensitivity of the situation and the repercussions it might entail, lack of scrutiny about the nature of the band and the type of concerts it holds, and not taking into account the state of emergency."

The committee also held the music band “responsible for not adhering to the instructions of the state of emergency in force under which celebrations are prohibited, to limit the spread of the coronavirus, and to organize a concert in the shrine without taking into account its importance and sensitivity as a shrine and a mosque.

The committee did not exclude the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in holding it administratively responsible due to the absence of guarding procedures in the place.
