Saturday, the EU began a coordinated rollout of coronavirus vaccinations across its 27 member states, in a mass campaign to inoculate 450 million people.

This came after the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced that the COVID-19 vaccine has been delivered to all EU countries.

She added that vaccinating people against the coronavirus will begin today across the EU.

Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, France and other EU countries began giving out their first coronavirus vaccine shots only hours after receiving their first shipments.

As for the Arab world, many countries have already started mass vaccination campaigns, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait.

However, Jordan is expected to start inoculating people against the coronavirus in February, with the first batch will arrive to the Kingdom by the end of next month, according to the Head of the coronavirus portfolio Wael al-Hayajneh.

Hayajneh said that the first batch of vaccines will contain 200,000 doses, which is enough for 100,000 individuals, adding that Jordan is aiming to vaccinate 15 percent of the population.

The vaccination will be free of charge for Jordanians and residents of the Kingdom, and receiving the vaccine will be optional, he added.
