Saturday, Hamas condemned the 'barbaric' Israeli Occupation raids on the Gaza Strip that hit a children's hospital, and other social service sites.

In a statement, the Israeli Occupation army announced that its planes had raided Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, including a missile manufacturing site, an underground facility and a military site, in response to the firing of two rockets from the Strip.

However, Hamas media spokesman Hazem Qassem said that "shrapnel from the occupation missiles hit a children's hospital and a rehabilitation center for people with special needs, and the bombing of the warplanes terrified civilians."

As a result of the Israeli Occupation raids, two Palestinians, one of them a child, were lightly wounded, according to a Palestinian medical source.

But the Israeli Occupation army stressed on Saturday afternoon that it had not targeted the hospital.

In a statement, he added that Hamas "deliberately locates military targets in the heart of densely populated areas," while the Israeli Occupation army "takes all feasible precautions to avoid damaging civilians and civilian buildings."

The statement added that Hamas "bears responsibility for what is happening in the Gaza Strip and what stems from it, and will bear the repercussions of the terrorist acts committed against the citizens of Israel."

This escalation came more than a month after the last rocket was fired from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip since 2007 towards the Israeli Occupation.

Hamas has fought three devastating wars with the Israeli Occupation in the coastal enclave, which is inhabited by nearly two million Palestinians.

The Israeli Occupation has imposed a stifling blockade on the Palestinian sector since it came under the control of Hamas.
