The Minister of State for Media Affairs, Ali Al-Ayed Friday announced that the government will announce new measures to deal with the pandemic next week, and they will depend on the pandemic situation in the Kingdom.

However, Ayed added that the presence of the COVID-19 vaccine does not signify the end of the pandemic, and precautionary measures must continue to limit the spread of infection.

Al-Ayed pointed out that the government has appointed more than 2,500 doctors and nurses to supply hospitals with the necessary medical cadres, indicating that the government faced exceptional circumstances and challenges due to the pandemic. It is necessary to focus on increasing medical capabilities and hospital capacity, said Al-Ayed, indicating that the Health Ministry has contracted with private hospitals to double capacity.

Additionally, he added that the government is committed to returning to the planned increases in public sector employees as of the beginning of 2021, which was a decision carefully studied before it was taken.
