Friday, the Minister of Transport Marwan Al-Khaitan denied to Roya any government intention to close the airport anytime soon, indicating that the pandemic situation in the Kingdom is stable and does not call for strict measures to be taken.

Al-Khaitan addressed the matter following rumors emerging of the airport closing and stopping flights to the Kingdom next month.

He said that the decision to close the airport is something that was not up for discussion and has not been studied or presented at all since the pandemic situation is stable, adding that stricter measures are not required.

Notably, Jordan decided to stop flights to and from Britain for a period of two weeks due to the discovery of a mutated, highly transmissible COVID-19 strain, in addition to suspending flights to and from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia after announcing the closure of their land, air and sea borders.
