Vaccines effective against new COVID-19 strain: German health expert

Sunday, European Union experts announced that the current vaccines against coronavirus can combat the new COVID-19 strain that has been lately discovered in the UK, said the German Health Minister, Jens Spahn.

Spahn said that according to the data we have so far the new strain "has no impact on the vaccines, which remain just as effective."

Earlier, the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said that the new strain of the virus is up to 70 percent more transmissible.

British Health Minister Matt Hancock said that "The new strain of coronavirus is out of control," adding  that it will be difficult to control the new strain of the virus before the vaccines are distributed on a large scale.

Hancock added "Our plan is to finish vaccinating a million people within days."

In light of the new coronavirus strain, several countries suspended flights from and to the UK. The countries are: Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, France, Bulgaria, Italy, Switzerland, Israeli Occupation, Finland, Turkey, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
