Two siblings died from coronavirus days apart in Irbid. A source close to the family said that the brother and sister contracted the virus through a woman who was working as a campaign worker for a female candidate in the 19th Parliamentary Elections.

The source added that the woman was aware that she had the virus. Despite that, she visited several families in Irbid as part of the election campaign.

The source said that the whole family got infected, but most appeared to be asymptomatic, except for the 40-year-old brother who suffered from severe symptoms and was transferred to a hospital, where he stayed for several weeks until he passed away last week.

Saturday, the sister who was in her forties also died due from her infection with the virus after she had been receiving treatment in a hospital.

Coronavirus claimed the lives of more than 3,500 Jordanians since the beginning of the pandemic in March.
