Thursday, Jordan welcomed the US decision to formally remove Sudan from the 'state sponsor of terrorism' list, in hopes that the decision would support peace and stability in the African Arab nation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that this decision would enhance security, stability and peace in Sudan, and will help reaching a new economic growth.

This came as the US embassy in Khartoum announced Monday that Sudan has been formally removed from 'state sponsor of terrorism' list. Sudan has been classified as a state sponsor of terrorism since 1993, after the first attack on the World Trade Center in New York. The designation severely hampered investments as most foreign investors avoid raising the ire of the US authorities.

In October, President Donald Trump ordered to remove Sudan from the list, after the country normalized relations with the Israeli Occupation.
