Member of Parliament Hayel Ayyash Sunday called on the Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh to exclude Christmas day and New Year's Day, both of which will fall on a Friday, from the weekly Friday lockdown decision.

Khasawneh had announced that a weekly lockdown will be imposed every Friday until the end of the year on Oct. 20. The decision was made in light of the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom and the increasing number of positive coronavirus cases at the time.

Even though New Year's day is not part of this year and therefore is not included in the weekly lockdown decision, citizens have expressed their concerns regarding the government imposing a total lockdown on Jan. 1.
