The assistant undersecretary of the Kuwait Food and Drug Control Administration Abdullah al-Bader Sunday announced that the Ministry of Health issued an emergency use license for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

The announcement was made based on the decision of the Joint Technical Committee and after extensive reviews of all data and scientific reports available. The committee conducted a comprehensive assessment of safety, efficacy and quality information. It also ensured that the principles of goods manufacturing and international standards are applied in factories producing the vaccine.

The Ministry of Health will carefully monitor the safety of the vaccine after it is administered, and follow up on information and data about the safety, effectiveness and quality.

The United States has already approved the emergency use of the vaccine and is expected to begin vaccinating citizens Monday.
