The Minister of Education Tayseer al-Nuaimi Saturday said the ministry is reasonably satisfied with the distance learning system that was activated during the coronavirus crisis in Jordan, saying that it is a source of pride.

Remote learning involves major challenges including 'societal, human and technological' difficulties, he said during Roya's Nabd Albalad.

The number of views on Jordan's online education platform Darsak was 1.3 billion views as of Saturday. He added that 91 percent of students have entered the platform, with more female students than males.

Regarding the lack of interaction between students and teachers, Nuaimi said the ministry is waiting to activate a live broadcast feature that aims to increase interaction on the platform.

He said "the normal place for students is in schools and classrooms," but citizens' health is Jordan's priority right now and it is too early to talk about students returning to schools in the upcoming semester.

Nuaimi pointed out a recent rule amendment that requires private school students to obtain clearance before switching from one private school to another.

He added that the ministry receives tablets from donors every day.
