Saturday, Algeria warned of "foreign maneuvers" to destabilize the Western Sahara in the wake of Washington's recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara in exchange for the normalization of relations between Morocco and the Israeli Occupation.

Prime Minister Abdul Aziz Jarad said that there are "challenges surrounding the country," noting that there are threats on the borders of the country that "the Zionist entity has reached."

Al-Jarrad spoke about the existence of foreign operations that "want to undermine the stability of the country," referring to "indications" related to what "happens on all our borders," during a conference to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the national demonstrations during the War of Independence (1954-1962).

This is the first official Algerian reaction to the surprise announcement Thursday by US President Donald Trump to recognize Morocco's sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara in exchange for Rabat's normalization of relations with the Israeli Occupation, Washington's ally.
