The Special Tribunal for Lebanon Friday sentenced Salim Ayyash to life in prison, who is suspected of belonging to Hezbollah and convicted of participating in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri in 2005.

The judge said, "The Trial Chamber considers that the maximum penalty for each of the five crimes, which is life imprisonment, should be imposed simultaneously."

Hariri was Prime Minister of Lebanon before his resignation in Oct. 2004. He was killed in Feb. 2005 when a suicide bomber detonated a truck filled with explosives while his armored convoy was passing by. The attack killed 22 people and left 226 wounded.
