A female Afghan news anchor and activist, Malala Maiwand was shot dead Thursday in the eastern city of Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

Maiwand was killed along with her driver Mohammad Tahir, as they were on their way to work when her vehicle was attacked by unidentified gunmen, according to Enekaas TV, the private television channel she worked for.

She is the second journalist killed in a month in Afghanistan, bringing the total number of Afghan journalists who have been killed in the country in 2020 to 10.
