The government intends on reopening schools and universities next semester in light of the current COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom, said Saad al-Kharabsheh, the head of the committee assessing the coronavirus situation in Jordan.

There is no proof that schools and universities were the reason behind the virus spreading across the Kingdom, he added.

He pointed out that it takes five weeks to determine whether or not the COVID-19 curve is stabilizing.

The Friday lockdown and overnight curfew do not directly affect citizens' lives, he said. It is too early to lift current restrictions, he added.

Kharabsheh said the vaccine will help sectors go back to work.
