Thursday, Italy recorded 23,255 new COVID-19 cases and 993 deaths, bringing it to the highest daily death toll the country has seen since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Italian government confirmed 23,255 new COVID-19 infections Thursday, which increased by 2,546 from the day before.

According to The Guardian, The Italian infection curve has been showing signs of flattening over the last seven days, while the number of hospital admissions, including into the ICU, has been declining.
