Trade deficit drops 20 percent in third quarter of 2020

The trade deficit at the end of the third quarter of 2020 fell 20 percent totaling to JD 4.692 billion compared to 2019 which was JD 5.862 billion, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced Wednesday.

According to the department's monthly report on foreign trade, the value of total exports, during July-September period, totaled to JD 4.153 billion, showing a drop by 5.5 percent in comparison with JD 4.396 billion in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, this year's national exports were valued at JD 3.699 billion, marking a 0.7 percent drop compared to last year, while the value of re-exports amounted to JD 454 million, marking a drop of 32.1 percent from the same period in 2019, the report said.

The Kingdom’s imports were valued at JD 8.846 billion, a decrease of 13.8 percent compared with JD 10.258 billion in 2019.
