A nurse at the Karak Government Hospital was beaten by five men Tuesday following attempts to forcefully enter the COVID-19 isolation department.

Upon preventing the men from entering, the nurse was beaten using sharp tools.

According to what the nurse told Roya, the men fled from the scene immediately after.

The nurse was admitted into the emergency ward where he is in moderate condition after suffering from abrasions, bruises and cuts in various areas of the body and head.

The Director of the hospital Muath Al-Maaytah told to Roya that medical personnel are only responsible for providing medical services and caring for patients, not supervising and following up the application of defense orders and protecting medical institutions from assault.

The hospital has witnessed three attacks in under a month on nursing staff, and the nursing staff and hospital administration repeatedly requested for fixed security points inside the hospital campus, which at the moment is completely void of security points.
