British race car driver Lewis Hamilton will miss this weekend's Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain after testing positive for coronavirus Tuesday.

The British driver's Mercedes team said that Hamilton had tested negative for the virus three times, however, Monday morning he woke up with "mild symptoms."

"He is otherwise fit and well, and the entire team sends him its very best wishes for a swift recovery," said Mercedes in a statement.

The statement said that Hamilton was informed that he had come into contact with a positive case before his arrival in Bahrain.
