Sunday, the State Security Court (SSC) held its second public session in the Zarqa attack case.

The SSC heard from five prosecution witnesses against 17 defendants who left a 16-year-old boy on the brink of death in early October after gouging out his eyes and severing his forearms from his body.

Following the witness testimonies, the court postponed the trial for Sunday, Dec. 6 in order to hear additional testimonies from another 21 witnesses.

In its first public session which was held last week, the court accused 17 defendants, including one who was tried in absentia after evading arrest, with multiple charges: carrying out a terrorist act that endangers the safety and security of the public; casting terror among people; endangering lives by jointly using weapons, forming an evil gang to commit joint intentional murder; causing permanent disability; kidnapping with conjugal participation with defilement of honor; overcoming the resistance of the victim; resisting public security forces; carrying and possessing sharp tools and unlicensed firearms.

All defendants pleaded not guilty.
