The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdullah Aqil Al-Da'ajah, announced the attack of a worshipper which took place Friday, where a citizen came to an Amman mosque while disobeying health measures by not wearing a mask.

As a result, the mosque's muezzin asked the citizen to wear a mask, leading the citizen to insult and attempt to attack the muezzin.

The citizen  was taken to a security center. The ministry took the necessary legal measures immediately, including requesting the administrative governor to take the necessary measures to ensure the continued application of public safety measures in public facilities.

The muezzin will be honored for his keenness to carry out his duty in preventing health and safety violations stipulated by the government in light of the coronavirus crisis, said Al-Da’ajah.

Al-Da'ajah called on all mosque-goers to adhere to preventive measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus by wearing a mask, bringing their own prayer mat, and adhering to social distancing during prayer.
