A total of eight doctors are currently in intensive care units due to COVID-19, four of whom are on respirators, said the acting Doctors' Syndicate Muhammad Rasul Tarawneh on Roya’s Nabd Albalad Wednesday.

A total of 128 doctors are currently self-isolating at home.

Another death has been reported to the Jordan Medical Association (JMA) Wednesday evening but the association has not confirmed it yet.

The head of the Jordanian Nurses and Midwives Council (JNMC) Khaled al-Rababa said the number of healthcare workers that tested positive for COVID-19 since the beginning of the coronavirus in Jordan has reached 3,170. Out of these cases, 1,310 are nursing staff members, all of whom are in good health condition.

One death has been recorded among the Kingdom’s nursing staff, involving a 40-year-old nurse. The deceased did not suffer from any chronic diseases or underlying health issues.

Rababa said nursing staff members across the Kingdom are waiting for more workers to be employed to be able to take leave and rest. He called for changing the protocols related to working hours, to enable nurses to rest and come back to work with ‘full strength.'

He added that the current training process in the public and private sector is weak and more training is needed for healthcare workers to be able to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
