The European Commission Wednesday announced that it made a EUR 250 million disbursement to the Kingdom as part of its macro-financial assistance (MFA) programs.

The commission said the payment is part of the EUR three billion emergency MFA package for ten enlargement and neighborhood partners. The money aims to help limit the economic repercussions of the coronavirus crisis.

Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation Maria Hadjitheodosiou said this amount reflects the union’s commitment to its continuous political and financial support to Jordan during these difficult times. It also proved its commitment to supporting government reforms and efforts to achieve a stable and stronger economy for the benefit of society as a whole, she said.
