Prince Hashem Field Hospital in Zarqa will begin receiving coronavirus patients starting next week, announced the acting General Director of the Jordanian Royal Medical Services (JRMS), Nidal al-Khasawneh Wednesday.

Tuesday, His Majesty King Abdullah II inaugurated a military field hospital in Zarqa, which is designed to receive coronavirus patients only.

Prince Hashem Field Hospital is equipped with approximately 300 beds, which includes 13 beds for patients suffering from medium-severity symptoms, and 48 ICU beds.

About 450 employees, including the nursing staff, technicians, administrators, and radiologists, work in the hospital.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Yousef al-Hunaity previously instructed the Royal Medical Services (RMS) to provide Prince Hashem Hospital in Zarqa and Prince Rashid Hospital in Irbid with mobile field hospitals to increase their capacities to better cope with the coronavirus crisis.

Hunaity also instructed the RMS to increase the capacity of hospitals across the Kingdom with caravans designed for PCR sample testing.
