Monday, Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh opened Al-Bashir Intensive Care Unit Center with a capacity of 70 beds. The center is designated for coronavirus patients only and it is fully equipped to treat COVID-19 cases.

Khasawneh said the center will begin operating today, as it is ready to receive coronavirus cases and strengthen the health system in the Kingdom.

However, Khasawneh said that citizens' adherence to health and safety measures which include social distancing and wearing face masks is currently the only way to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Director of Al-Bashir Hospital, Mahmoud Zureikat said that this center is considered to be one of the largest ICU centers in the Kingdom.

Jordan recorded 66 deaths and 4,981 new COVID-19 cases Monday, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the crisis to 188,410.
