Sunday, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced new strict measures to protect prisoners in correctional and rehabilitation institutions, which include separating those infected with coronavirus from other inmates.

This helps prevent the spread of COVID-19 among prisoners, the PSD said.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MoH), the PSD said that a correctional and rehabilitation institution has been designated for those who test positive for the virus.

Additionally, four correctional and rehabilitation institutions have been established for new inmates. Prisoners will be taken to one these institutions for a period of 14 days, and then whoever tests positive will be transferred to the designated institution.

Jordan has recorded 64 deaths and 5,268 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the crisis to 183,429.
