The Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) Saturday seized the licenses of 2,400 transport agents due to their lack of adherence to safety measures stipulated in the defense orders to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The director general of the LTRC, Salah al-Lozi, said the commission has formed a number of field monitoring committees to monitor the adherence of various public transport modes to preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus.

Additionally, he said the commission formed inspection teams, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), to monitor the departure and arrival points in different transport sectors to ensure compliance with health and safety measures, which include wearing face masks, disinfecting buses regularly, and abiding to seat capacity limitations of 75 percent.

Al-Lozi called on operators and workers in public transport to adhere to the instructions issued under defense orders, adding that bus passengers will not be allowed to travel if they are not wearing face masks.
