A total of 1,920 coronavirus cases have been recorded among the employees of a clothing factory in Aqaba Wednesday, a medical source told Roya.

The source added 85 percent of the PCR test results came back positive.

The factory is located in the International Industrial Estate of Aqaba and all infected workers are from foreign nationalities.

In a press statement Wednesday, the Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nayef Bakhit, said the factory has no Jordanian workers and has been without Jordanian workers since July, with the exception of 14 bus drivers.

The drivers are  working to transport factory workers from their place of residence to the factory. They have undergone PCR tests, all of which showed negative results.

He indicated that the number of factory workers does not exceed 2,400 and denies rumors of it being a facemask factory.
