Unusually, Jordanians were reluctant to offer congratulations to  MPs who won in the 19th Parliamentary Elections in light of the coronavirus crisis, due to the disregard towards the Jordanian health situation. Activites which occured surrounding the elections will probably cause a surge in new infections.

Only a small number of people took to social media to congratulate the parliament on their victory while the majority displayed reluctancy towards the events which occurred amid the coronavirus crisis.

The participation rate in election voting, according to what was announced by the Independent Election Commission (IEC), was 29.8 percent,  a significant decrease from the 36 percent who voted in the 2016 parliamentary elections.

On social media, there is an absence of complimentary statements which are given to elected candidates, as it is usually customary to congratulate and uplift new holders of office as they "flourish" in their positions.

According to these individuals online, "pride is an unworthy quality for anyone as long as [they] are unable to occupy [their] position and serve the Jordanians in the necessary and desired manner."

In light of the total lockdown, which took place in Jordan Tuesday night until Sunday morning, photographs and promotional content for the new MPs have disappeared from newspapers, just as their congratulations for their victory disappeared on local news sites and social media pages.
