Police announced that several bullets were fired Thursday morning at the Saudi embassy in The Hague, without causing any casualties.

"Before 6 pm (0500 GMT) we received a message about a bullet being fired at a building in The Hague. There were no injuries," the police said in a tweet.

The Dutch news agency quoted the police as saying that a number of bullet casings were discovered at the scene after the accident.

And local media pointed to 20 bullet holes in the building and published pictures that appeared to have holes in the windows. Police did not confirm the number of shots.

Police said they closed the roads leading to the place where forensic teams are investigating.

The motives for the shooting were not known.

The incident comes a day after an explosion targeted a ceremony in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to commemorate the armistice of November 11, 1918, in the presence of Western diplomats, including French and British.

As a result of this attack, two were wounded including a Greek consular employee and a Saudi policeman.
