Polling stations are safe and will not spread the coronavirus, said the Minister of State for Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Al-Maaytah Tuesday.

He said polling stations are safer than being outdoors and contracting coronavirus "will not be by going to the polling stations, but by going to the mall, the bakery and not adhering to public safety measures."

The fact that Jordan is holding the parliamentary elections is a testament to the Kingdom's strength, he said. The instructions put in place for the elections can be a model for dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

Participation in the 19th parliamentary elections is extremely important in order to elect the suitable members for the House of Representatives, he added.

He reiterated the need to comply with health and safety measures during the elections.

Maaytah voted at a school in Karak.
