Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh issued an official statement specifying the hours of the total lockdown which will be implemented after the Jordanian parliamentary elections.

The lockdown will begin at 9 PM for establishments, and 10 PM for individuals following the completion of the voting process and the closing of the ballot boxes Tuesday November 10, and ends at 6 AM Sunday November 15.

Upon the request of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission (IEC), the PM excluded the candidates and delegates from making decisions at the polling and counting centers for the 19th parliamentary elections.

In addition, the heads, members and cadres of election committees in the field, local and international observers, media professionals and journalists accredited to IEC will be excluded until they have finished announcing the final results and sent them to the official gazette.

The decision to keep the allocation of an hour to enable citizens to perform the Friday prayers on foot during total lockdown remains.

Al-Khasawneh addressed the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the IEC to express his opinion on the possibility of implementing a total lockdown following the completion of the polling process, based on the recommendation of the Minister of Health, Nathir Obeidat, and the Head of the Coronavirus Portfolio, Wael Hayajneh, with the aim of limiting the spread of the coronavirus, stressing the government's keenness to support the commission in the electoral process.

The Board of Commissioners of the IEC met Saturday, at the headquarters to consider addressing the PM with the beginning of a total lockdown starting Tuesday evening, and recommended approval of the content of what was stated by the PM.
