Infectious Disease Consultant Dirar Balawi spoke about the advantages of the new rapid COVID-19 testing device Saturday, indicating that the test costs roughly USD five in the United States.

Balawi pointed out that the results of the rapid test are distinguished, and is similar to the PCR test.

He pointed out that in India, rapid COVID-19 testing detected about 50 percent of cases, indicating that it is possible to place this testing device in hotspots where overcrowding is frequent.

The rapid testing device can also be used to quickly screen asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.

The problem is that there is a threat of a second wave of coronavirus with the onset of winter, Balawi added.

Balawi called on the government to implement smart closures which will support those affected by COVID-19.
